In this Rumba dance lesson, you’ll learn how to perform the Rumba Box step. Featuring a demonstration, detailed breakdown for men and women, and a guided practice with music, this video is only a taste DanceCrazy.com’s Learn to Rumba Dance DVD Series
How old is "too old" to start dancing? I’d like to take it up (just as a hobby, really. I wouldn’t want a career or anything), but I’m almost 18. As far as shape goes, I’m in decent shape–not perfect, but I’m not fat or something. And I’ve always been pretty flexible (of course, not "dancer" flexible).
I find dancing really emotional and beautiful. Plus I think it’s a good way to stay in shape and get my daily exercise.
Do I need to find some dance class in order to take it up? I would feel comfortable doing that, though. So would some sort of dance DVD that I can do at home work to "get me started?"
Okay, so about a year and half ago, i had a car accident. i was hit by a car which i was rushed to hospital etc. I was really lucky with the recovery thank god!! i was complaining about my right side, as this was the side i was hit by. Its hard to explain really!! At the time i was only complaining about the pain in my right hip and ankle. After hours of waiting and xrays on them both – i was fine! no damage!! Very releived of corse! Although later that day when i went home, i found my knee had swallon and i found it difficult to walk anyway. I never gave it a thought as i just thought its going to be swallon i just been hit by a car!! Anyway, im a dancer, hoping to go dance college next year and hit west end in 4years time!! ever since i went back too dancing, my knee is really painful. its constantly clicking which makes me feel sick most of the time! now and then it does swell up (very rare) and its incredibly weak! (i do occasionaly where a knee surrport) im so scared to jump/dance etc as in the past its just gone and im in mega pain with it.. because i really want this as a career! im kinda stubborn about it and just percivere with the pain! i know i shouldnt as it can cause more damage. i have been reading up on interent and i think it may be -Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. It matches my symptoms. I am going to doctors next week as its got to the point where i need to know if i can carry on with my dancing! i would be devistated if i couldnt. any helpful answers/advice would be great!!
So i really want to be a dancer/choreographer but the program that is available for me to do it at college I’m not sure like how many subjects I have to get back to do it. So does anyone know what is needed for me to study dance or maybe give me some ideas and pointers.
I love dancing especially in the bar, discotheque, anywhere.
I don’t know how and why, i just want to move my body whenever i’ve got a chance.
I’m thinking to become a professional and famous dancer, but i don’t konw how…
Is there any kind of "American Idol" but for dancing competition? I want to measure my skill and also to try my luck…
Thanks for any of your reply.
at my studio there are two tracks one for the more serious dancer and the other one for those who are not as serious. i have been at the studio for two and a half years. when i first came to the studio i was placed in the teen advanced ballet, jazz, etc. even though i was more advanced and serious than the girls in my class i didn’t mind because i was neew there and i was still learning the ropes. But now i am still at that level and i am frustrated. i would like to be on the more serious track and be placed in a pre professional level but i don’t think my teachers and directors know that. i think they just think i don’t care as much or whatever…but i do. i reall want to be more challenged and be with girls who arre serious and have the idea of dance as their career. i need to talk to my artistic director about this but i dont know what to say. im afraid shell say something that i wont want to hear. also there would be girls in the class who are better than me and that gives me motivation to get better. i just don’t know what to say. also ive been doing pointe for 2.5 yrs and i am still in beg. pointe- the inter/adv was filled so i was placed in beg. again but the frustrating thing is i wasnt even supposed to be in beg. pinte at the start i was supposed to be in beg/ int but it didn’t work out with my schedule. if there is any one who could help me with what to say please!! thank you!
*also the girls in the pre pro levels get to be in given roles in the nutcracker and our spring show. i can audition for nutcracker but to be given a role( good role) would be better and i would love to be in the spring show
My greatest passion in life is dance. Unfortunately I discovered this passion late in life (15 years old…that’s late for a serious dancer). I really want to pursue dance as a career (whether it be theatrics or simply teaching dance). However, I fear pursuing this goal of mine, as I feel I’m not qualified given my lack of experience and years of education. I’m confident enough to know I CAN dance well and have the basics down, but I want to take my talent the extra mile. I want to make the most of it and make it my life. I’m contemplating going back to college (I’m 21), working hard to try and find my niche in dance and how I can mold this passion of mine into something vocational. My heart and soul is 100% in this, but any good dancer knows it takes a lot more than heart and soul. Do you think a major in dance for myself is feasible? Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
thanks i would like it if you helped. well i go to the hoop dances (in portland, OR) and there really fun but im not that great of a dancer. i dont want to take hip hop lessons becauses i don’t have time (nor do i want to). so there is all sorts of dancing: grinding (which there is the most popular) and just reagular hip hop dancing. so could you give me some tips or advice on how to dance better?
