Dancing as a hobby? Can I pull it off?

How old is "too old" to start dancing? I’d like to take it up (just as a hobby, really. I wouldn’t want a career or anything), but I’m almost 18. As far as shape goes, I’m in decent shape–not perfect, but I’m not fat or something. And I’ve always been pretty flexible (of course, not "dancer" flexible).

I find dancing really emotional and beautiful. Plus I think it’s a good way to stay in shape and get my daily exercise.
Do I need to find some dance class in order to take it up? I would feel comfortable doing that, though. So would some sort of dance DVD that I can do at home work to "get me started?"

I need help on a dance research project for Dance Class at my school. We have to get up and perform the dance we research and I’m wondering which one will impress the teacher the most (supposing I nail it)? I’d like to have fun but make the dance ROCK! It’s my FIRST IMPRESSION in class. I don’t have much time..

Here are the choices:
The Twist, The Mashed Potato, The Bunny Hop, The Conga, The Hand Jive, The Funky Chicken, The Monkey, The Hustle, The Runnning Man, The Roger Rabbit, The Typewriter, The Cabbage Patch, The Macarena, The Boot Scootin’ Boogie.

I have never took a dance class. My friends say I am really good at dancing and say I need to take it seriously. I really like the way they danced in Another Cinderella story. Can anyone tell me how I can learn how to whip freestyle and learn some new moves without having to take an expensive dance class?

PS: My school’s dance team isn’t really that up to par.
Plus there really isn’t anything good online that I looked up. So if you find something…

i am in a dance class and am looking for ballroom dancing shoes (normally have sued bottoms) but everywhere i look they are not the right size for my oddly shaped feet. i want the shoe to be a neutral color so that they will go with anything. I want them to be good quality. Dose any one know of a good place to find them? (online or in hampton roads va area)

i want to learn it for free. i dont have enough money but i have a passion for dancing. i am looking for a free dance class or maybe just some basic steps to learn on my own. if you could help in any way that would be great!!

What type of dance should I take?

I want to start taking dance lessons. I’m 14, I used to take ballet when I was much younger.
I know I want to take ballet, but I also want to take another type. I want to take a dance class that dances to modern music and does today’s kind of dancing, if that makes sense. I don’t want to take hip hop though.

how do you get dance lessons online?

I need to learn how to dance but my mom cant buy dance class so she told me to look online but i cant find any so please help

Please don’t suggest going to a dance class cause I come from Iran and in my country there are no dance classes for men, the number of dance classes for women is also limited. Do you think I could learn dancing by watching one of those dance tutorials? Which style of dance do you suggest? I guess it has to be something soft and slow, but of course emotional, something like smooth waltz. I’d love to learn to dance but thanks to this damn government there are no classes for men:(
