So I just moved to Paris, France and I want to start learning how to dance. I’m 15 years old and I dont know anything about dance, but I know that I really want to learn it. The main issue is that I dont speak french fluently, so I cant really learn it from a french teacher. Does anyone know any good dance classes or schools in paris that are english-based? Or not even english-based, just something that has english-speaking teachers. Please help!

My step-daughter has studied dance since she was about 7. She started with Irish dance and switched to ballet when she was 14. She has studied Ballet for 3 years.

Anyhow – she is in a ballet school and has performed in La Bayadere and The Nutcracker. In La Bayadere, she had a small solo. Her dream is to become a ballet dancer but I think that there are limited opportunities – they are there – but I think limited after college for a ballet dancer career. Plus she is 17 and I’d think that the dancers who are practically professional are just starting their real dance careers which I know are not long careers as dancers. Perhaps one could dance into the early 30s or a little longer.

I have told her that there seem to be more opportunities for dancers in small companies that perform contemporary dance. A career could last even longer if one was a choreographer or company founder etc.

But I think she hopes for a classical ballet career. I just need help understanding this world of dance and the reality of it. Thanks.
